Unwanted "Enter network Password "prompts
« on: December 09, 2007, 04:50:49 AM »
In Windows XP with sp2 I am repeatedly asked to "Enter Network Password". I do not have a network password, never had or used one, how can I stop getting this constantly repeated request on my screen?

Is there any action you're taking that you can associate with this?

I can think of no change that I have made to cause these prompts However they are formatted ;-

    Server.........   mail.btinternet.com
    User name..........my email address
    Password..............

Save this password in your password list

Does this give a clue as to the source of this nuisance?

Those popups are coming from whatever mail client you're using. Separate from your internet login, it's prompting you for your username and password for checking your mail. Most mail clients typically do this automatically every 5-10 minutes when they check for mail.

If you go to your mail client's settings, you can adjust the time between checks or turn off auto-checking altogether.
