BIOS date and time problems after hard reboot
« on: December 20, 2007, 04:00:53 PM »
Every time my system does a hard power off, such as a power failure or AC disconnect. When re booting, the system will require me to enter set up to set the date and time. Once set, the system keeps the date and time very well.  The system runs 24/7. The system is as follows:

Dell Dimension 4600 build date 11/2003
Wind XP Sp2
Not sure which BIOS is installed.

Thanks

Replace the CMOS battery.
It's located on the MBoard...part # CR 2032 about the size of a dime.

Be careful not to break the spring that holds it in place or you will be taking it to a shop for repair.
As always when working inside the case remove all power sources and take anti-static precautions...
