volume control adjusting itself

when i go to play a song on my computer, the slider in the volume control goes right down. I bring it back up but if i click on anything, even a window i may have open, it goes right back down again. Helpppppp!!! I am running windows98 .

Wow.    It sounds to me like you might have yourself a virus/worm/trojan there buddy..... Do you have antivirus protection? Let us know.....

Either that or your sound card drivers aren't playing ball. Try updating them and seeing if that changes anything.
