Help change from IE to Mozilla Foxfire
« on: January 06, 2005, 10:26:55 AM »
MY IE has been hijacked and is essentially unuseable. Suggestions made in this forum and others have suggested Mozzila Foxfire as a browser. I successfully downloaded Foxfire, everything appeared to work in that favorites transferred and I was able to access web pages and view them. IT HAS NOT WORKED SINCE. I have a DSL connection via Earthlink. I connect to EarthLink via the DSL connection icon on my desktop then click on the Foxfire icon (previously, at this step I would - and still can - click on the IE icon). The connection to Foxfire fails with the message that something is not right about my proxy server settings. My initial contact with EarthLink Chat was a failure since the chat person told me EarthLink does not offer support for Mozilla. Perhaps I should have pursued it further but I did not at that time.----- Why would not the proxy settings that work for IE work for Foxfire?

You must fix that before attempting to use Mozilla.  Scan for viruses, trojans, hijackers, etc.  Install firewall.  Read this first:  http://www.winxpcentral.com/basics/secure1.php

    Try reinstalling Firefox.
