Motherboard Failing?
« on: January 17, 2008, 01:54:34 PM »
Hi, I have been running the same motherboard on my homebuilt PC now for about three years. (Abit AV8)  Over the past month, whenever I start up the computer in the morning, the motherboard will not boot the system and gives its characteristic warning "buzz".   The computer will boot properly on the second try and anytime during the day.  It is only when the computer has been shut off overnight that it behaves in this manner.

I'm basically here because I am not sure if my motherboard is more or less letting me know that is failing,  getting old, ect. and that I should consider replacing it.

Thanks for any opins.

Before giving up on that MBoard try 2 things :
Replace the CMOS battery:

Then try another PSU...make sure it's the same or greater wattage that was in there and see if the condition improves...
