    slippery mouse

i just bought an optical mouse and it works well but on my desk it doesn't preform as well as it can because the desk is too slippery.

the mouse works well on any other surfaces i've tried but on my desk it sometimes does its own thing.
i know i can get a mouse mat but is there any other solution other than a mouse mat.
    thanks.

I think a mouse pad is your best bet.
