how to open open office file in windows

I am running windows xp/works and have a file created in open office(sxc) and cannot open it, any suggestions please, tried opening it in word and also notepad but no luck.thanks

    sxc is the spreadsheet format in OO. So try opening it in Excel, this would be your safest bet for opening the file if Office supports the format at all.
    If it can't then you could install OO to open it, OO is free after all.
    Or use an online document viewer such as ZOHO. It supports sxc files.
