    HELP! Problem with desktop.
    « on: April 30, 2008, 01:57:59 PM »
After booting up and going into my user, my desktop disappears (including my icons and taskbar except for the background) after a minute unless i use a program that has to do with the desktop like properties. If i dont use a program associated with the desktop then the things disappear and nothing is clickable on the desktop and clicking the start button on my keyboard does not bring up the start menu.
i have never seen this problem b4 CAN ANYONE HELP!?!?!

Go to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...
Have your XP CD handy as it will ask for it...
Let it finish and remove the CD and re-boot.

Can you borrow one ? ?
It needs to match the version: Home or Pro and if you have SP2 installed it needs to have that as well...

Did you or can you check out:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/137069   If that does'nt help and if you can I would download and run Hijack This:   http://www.snapflies.com/get/hijackthis.html    Then post the log here and let Broni take a look.  Patio, Broni and someother guys are really very smart and I feel sure can help you.  Good Luck. ;D

HIJACKTHIS:  is a free software program that you can download and run,  It lists contents of registry & hard drive.  You run it save the log file and post it here and some of these super techs, mostly Broni, will take a look and see if that might be where your problem exists.
