Videos lock my computer up!

Hi, whenever I try to load a video on my computer, my screen turns black and somtimes restarts my computer.  I dont understand! Anyhelp out there?

What kind of video is it? .avi, DVD? Maybe you need a codec to view the video. More info please.

And what OS are you using?  XP has a big issue with .avi files unless you fix via the registry.

how do u fix avi in the regedit. i don't know this ???.
and for the main question, does it have the same problem while loading other video types. If so check for heat issues. if not get back to us.
