    Dowloading to wrong drive
    « on: June 19, 2008, 05:53:04 PM »
How do I get a program to download to D drive instead of C when no option is given?  Also how do I free up space on C drive when I have no idea what to delete/move?   ??? ???

    Thank you

Downloading Adobe to D drive not C.  It doesn't give me the choice of drives, it just downloads to C.

Again, from what application are you starting your download?  Is it via web browser?  If so, which browser?

When I try to download Adobe Reader from the Adobe website it automatically downloads to the C drive with no option to change location.

In Firefox, go to Tools, Options, and select the Main tab.  Under Downloads, click the Browse button, next to Save files in and navigate to, and select, the preferred drive and/or folder.

In Firefox, go Tools>Option, and you can select where you want files to be downloaded:

It shows downloads go to H.  I did find Adobe and Adobe Reader on the C and deleted them.  Maybe that is why the download kept going to the C.

Thank you, I will try downloading Adobe Reader again.  If I still have problems I will be back!

Obviously, you haven't comprehended the instructions I posted, which were illustrated by the image Broni posted.  So, go back and take a look at those posts.  Then, tell us what part of those instructions you do not understand.

I'll reiterate the key point here.  You have to change a setting in Firefox to tell Firefox you want to download to a different location.  Merely deleting a previously existing file of the same name as the file you want to download will not solve the issue here.

perhaps this is another case of confusion with the words "download" and "install"? And if that is the case- would Adobe Reader's Installer not offer the option to Change the folder on one of the installer's pages?

In Firefox, go Tools>Option, and you can select where you want files to be downloaded:

Click the radio button: "Always ask me where to save files".
Now when something is finished downloading, it will ask you where to save the files (with a browse button).
