    External Hard Drive ?? Renamed?
    « on: June 28, 2008, 10:38:53 AM »
I put a lot of my excess music onto my external hard drive and listen to it through i tunes.  For some reason my device changed names.  It was Western Digital (G:), but now it is Western Digital (H:) .  So now all of my music in iTunes is no longer linked.  Is there an easy way to fix this without having to go through each song/album and relinking it to (H:)?    Any help would be apprceiated.

Go to the control panel and open Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. Then select Disk Management on the left menu. In either frame on the right, find your external drive and right click it. Select "Change Drive Letter and Paths..."

From there, you can assign it "G:" instead of "H:", provided nothing else is currently using G: as a drive letter.
