Operating systems
« on: February 24, 2005, 06:24:39 PM »
Does anyone know why a computer will display "operating system not found on any device" and do absolutley nothing else? I tried a reformat, reboot, and everything else I know to do. The word "compaq" comes up, but after that, all I get is the os message. Please help!! :-[ :-[

That is becuase no operating system is installed... Your hard disk sounds wiped out to me... You need a operating system boot disk to install an operating system...

If the windowsME disk you have is a CD marked Windows ME then that is the operating system

The bootdisk should be under your coffee mug!

If it has gone missing go to www.bootdisk.com and download a new one and transfer to a blank floppy.

You might be able to set the BIOS to boot off the CD then just use the ME disk.
