Updating the driver for the display adapter
    « on: August 15, 2008, 07:05:15 PM »
I have been trying to update my driver for the display adapter, because I can't run Mass Effect (game) otherwise. I have searched google a ton of times and the guides for updating your drivers just aren't helpful. That's why I am asking here :)

I need to update the driver for my display adapter (Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT, version 9.1.4.7). I am looking for more or less a complete walkthrough on how to do so, and a link to download the update (a link that will bring me to the exact place I want to be... I really can't find my way through the driver websites myself, since I don't know what's what :()

    About the computer:
Nvidia GeForce 7950 GT, version 9.1.4.7 (I need a higher/better version of this I think?)
    Windows XP Professional
Fujitsu Siemens computer, model Scaleo H

    Thank you.

Your graphics card seems capable of running Mass Effect, reinstalling the drivers won't hurt though.

    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Go to that site and click Graphics Drivers in Option 2.

Thank you. I have updated my graphic card but mass effect still isn't running 100% smoothly :(

When you say it isn't running smoothly...what do you mean?

It's "laggy". For example when I turn around quickly and sometimes I get tiny laggspikes in the in-game combat. I tried playing with 1024x XXXX resolution but it's the same as when I play 1600 x 1200... So I just keep it on 1600 x 1200.

What if you try decreasing the video quality (in the game settings)

Have you tried turning anti-aliasing off?

No I haven't. I don't know what it's for, so I have always just ignored it  :-\ What does it do? (anti-aliasing)

            Google knows.

            This seems very informative:

Even I might learn a thing or two...
