New Hard Drive Crashed after 3 days
« on: August 21, 2008, 10:48:05 AM »
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 that was getting the blue screen saying that new hardware blah blah blah and that it shut down to prevent injury to the computer.  I tried reformatting the computer and it worked for 3 days then crashed again so I bought a new hard drive, partitioned it, formatted it and installed XPSP3 on it.  It has worked for 5 days and when I booted it up this morning it says there is no hard drive found, no bootable devices.  I removed the hard drive and reinstalled it thinking maybe it had jarred loose or something but it is not seeing it at all.

What could be causing this to continously happen.  Is there an internal clock that could be corrupted that crashes on this computer after so many hours of use?  I am at a loss and tired of reformatting this hard drive.

Please help.

Is it a third party hard drive or directly from Dell?
