USB Speakers to Normal Speakers/No sound!!!
    « on: August 28, 2008, 05:57:29 AM »
I was using Pleomax speakers(the usual kind that connect to the sound card :-[)a while ago. They were just plug and play kind no software needed. They seemed to work fine . Then I replaced them with the USB speakers which also worked alrite(also plug and play). Then I remove the USB speakers and connect the old ones back on and now there is no sound. The computer doesn't even recognise that the speakers are connected and says no device.
When I try opening the sound control it gives me this error message saying "no sound mixers" ???
In the sounds and audio devices the volume, audio and voice parts are all greyed out In every part it just says No device :'(
I found this answer before saying that I have to use the Run application and open the services.msc and check Windows Audio, I did and found it is started but still the problem persists :o

On this link you'll be able to find everything about my comp
    Please I need help ASAP

    Welcome to ComputerHope.

Just a thought, try going to Control Panel --> Sounds and Audio Devices.
A new window should pop up. Make sure all your sound settings are set to the right devices and press OK.

This is assuming you have Windows XP

What Windows version do you have?

About that .html file, you can upload it here.

Try downloading and installing the latest audio dirvers.

    Or:

Go to Start --> Run, and type in services.msc.

A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio. Right-click and click on Properties.

Make sure that "Startup type" is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under "Service
    status," start is selected.

      Hmmm.... I don't think that's right....

Can you go to Device Manager and look for any Yellow Question Marks or Exclamation Marks.

Yes there is this whole section of "other devices" with a yellow question mark and when you expand it there are three devices with yellow question marks and a lil exclamation mark:
        -Multimedia Audio Controller
        - USB Device
        -Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

The usb device is the printer which is working fine the other two?

Well, since everything else is working, I would leave it for now.

However, the question mark next to Multimedia might be the problem here.

When you right click it, does it give you an option to update or install or something?
        If so, click it.

It asks me to install the driver but there was no additional cd or package that came with it so even if I click it to install it just says that the software wasn't found
           ???

If this is a pre-built computer (not custom built), go to the Manufacturers website, look for the right Computer Model and head over to Downloads and Drivers and install the appropriate Sound Card Drivers.
