One of my users called me over to fix her PC. When she fired up Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) she got the URL
res://C:\WINNT\system32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htmcoming up at the top and the corresponding screen from IE7 saying that it could not find the page.
After running a registry fix (just in case) the problem was still there.
Her IE7 was having no difficulty finding any web pages. So, I just changed her home page to google and all was well from then on.
Something is worrying me about this as I cannot imagine why the home page would have changed to that in the first place. I tried looking up the URL on google but got so many differing possible reasons for this that my head is spinning from trying to think about it.
What I would like to know is this. Am I facing something serious such as a virus or spyware, or is this something else. Also, is it likely to occur again?
Can anyone explain this one please?
