    PC crashes on wake-up.
    « on: September 24, 2008, 04:31:56 PM »
When I 'wake' my PC it freezes (with lots of horiz. lines on the monitor) & is totally unresponsive, to the point I have to shut down with the Power Button. Then it restarts with the option to 'Start Windows Normally' which works fine. Any ideas please? New build (2 weeks) Asus M3A mobo AthlonX2 6000+ S/gate 250 SATA II hdd 4 Gb Corsair Ram Vist Home Prem 64bit O/S Optiarc SATA DVD drive 550w PSU. Kaspersky AV. Best wishes Alex

Wake your PC from Stand By or Hibernation?

    When did this problem start?

What if you turn off sleep mode?

Try updating you video card drivers and windows update first.
Check if your video card has VPU recover (dont remember the exact name - it helps recover from
video card errors) . Disable it and restart.

Make sure your computer's power settings are correct and your computer isn't losing power from running on an extension cord. my computer does that every now and then and it does that because either there is a power problem somewhere(low power flow) or a video cars problem.

Hi, This has happened since first use. I have latest drivers for Video card (GForce 7100GS) It crashes waking from sleep mode. I must admit I am new to Vista, but in Start Menu there is (L to R) the brown power button which says 'Puts your PC in low powermode etc. ( which I find odd as this is the Standard Power Icon for ON/Off??) Then the 'Lock' button, then the arrow button which gives various options, which I use to either shut down, or sleep the PC. If I 'wake' it (after entering sleep mode) it just crashes!!. Another point which may be connected is that on startup I get a dialogue box from IE saying there is a 'Scipt error, do I want to run with scripts?Yes or No' I select 'Yes' & carry on. I hope I have explained this adequately. Alex

          Don't use sleep mode. Period.
...or any of that kind of crap, for that matter.
