    EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES ON MAC
    « on: October 14, 2008, 04:44:24 AM »
MY MAC OSX VERSION 10.3.9 DOESN'T LET ME READ ANY HARD DRIVES, HAVE TRIED TO PLUG IN 4 DIFFERENT ONES AND NONE APPEAR ON MY FINDER OR ANYWHERE. I HAVE USED USB SMALL DRIVES AND THOSE WORK PERFECTLY AND ANYTHING THAT I CONNECT THRU MY USB WORKS JUST FINE EXCEPT FOR EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES. I HAVE NO IDEA SO IF ANYONE HAS A SUGGESTION PLEASE HELP.

    THANKS

Sorry, it seems this post has slipped.

Unfortunately, this post wouldn't count much as I know null about Mac or Apple of that matter.

Hopefully someone will be along with some suggestions, unless you have solved the problem already.

If you open up disk utility (go to your hd--> applications --> utilities --> disk utility) you can see what drives are even being recognized.

My first suggestion is that you're attempting to use external hard drives that are powered via usb 2 and your computer only has usb 1.1

Are you plugging your external drives into a power source or are you relying on the computer for the power source?
