so am just wondering if the pc400 can be installed as a pair where the pc3200 will be taken out and if it would work.. I am still kinda a newbie on ram and what will work or not!!

if their computer uses DDR RAM, then the DDR RAM that they bought will work. i dont believe you are correctly writing down the information about the RAM, because if they did purchase PC400 then they got ridiculously slow RAM, i believe you meant to type DDR400, which means something alot different.

        thanks Homer....

I was only writing what the sticks have and it does say pc400? I was thinking the same thing abour ddr400.. so that is what was confusing me? so do you think it could be a typo on the label on the memory stick? I also was thinking that it would be really slow ram and the one 512mb of pc3200 would probably be faster than the two sticks of 512mb pc400 together.  or maybe the same speed? I am not sure? not getting much help on internet trying to find info neither?  I believe.. I am with you though and it would work. so guess I could try.. just hate to have anything mess with computer if I try it and then the pc3200 wouldnt want to work after? thanks for the input and am up to any other suggestions.

im curious now, where does it say this? on a website or on the RAM itself? if it is a website could you please provide a link.

just an added note, if you mix RAM speeds, the motherboard will go the speed of the slowest RAM module.

            hello again!

it says it on the ram itself!  ok I did some more searching and I googled the number above the upc code and have found out according to that number (761133840054) it is actually a Kbyte 512 MB PC3200 DDR RAM (761133840054).  all the tag had on the ram besides the number above the upc code was 512MB-ddr-pc400 and below that was another number 122100082306gc so that was what was confusing me?  It didnt say if it was a pc3200 or pc2700 or any of the usual numbers I am used to seeing. When I seen pc400 I was figuring it was really slow ram.  so I am gonna install the ram and see if it works.  thanks for your help!  Hope you all have a good day!  ;)
