Windows does not respond when opening new window....

When I get to a site and try to open a link or click to open a new window it freezes up and says windows not responding......what can I do to get this to stop....? If I get an e-mail with a link in it I can't open that either. If I write the link address down on a piece of paper then type it in I can then get there but can't open anything once I do...

I contacted HP, must be in India, after reinstalling IE 7 the problem seems to be solved, just a matter of time to see if it works....thanks, Mike
