ATI x1300 Radeon
« on: December 17, 2008, 07:57:39 PM »
hi, my father has a ATI x1300 radeon and for some reason his games running slow.

he has updated his patch for the game Gothic 3 forsaken gods.

he has XP home service pack 3
RAM 2GB
ATI radeon display: 256MB PCI card
Pentium 4 CPU 3GB

it only happens on some parts of the game that it would freeze and play slow..... more in the towns where there is more graphics in the game but it still does freeze and play slow everywhere in the game
while playing the game.. it would freeze for a moment and starts to play again... then it would freeze... over and over again.

I updates the display graphic card drivers and told him to go to windows updates.

The PCI card is all ready slow so the performance will bite anyway.
I told him he might have to wait for the next patch.

is there anything that i could do... that may know more about graphic cards then me.

Thanks again!

Make sure all Tray items are turned off before starting a session.
Regular maintenence such as diskclean and defrag should be kept up with.
NEVER rely on Windows update for drivers...travel to the card manuf. site for the proper ones.
Check to see if the specific game has any Forums that may supply some tweaking hints....
Best of Luck.

That's not a gaming video card, so you'd expect that kind of performance.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Pentium 4 CPU 3GB".

If the system is defragged and clean (CCleaner from fileHippo; maybe Ad-Aware; plus AVG), you're probably as good as you'll get. The 2GB of RAM is good, anyway.
