I have a compaq presario. running xp pro with 1,8ghz cpu, and 1.5 gb ram.
The task bar has doubled in size, and I have tried all of the things I have used in the past to rectify it to no avail. Could anybody give me any further advice please. Thanks

Hover the mouse around the top edge of the task bar until the mouse pointer changes to an up-down arrow. Then, left click the mouse and drag the mouse down until the task bar changes size.

Look for any of these horizontal dotted lines:

(The taskbar must be unlocked and there should be multiple of them)

Try adjusting their horizontal position on the the task bar and try adjusting the size again.

Right click taskbar, click Properties>Start menu tab>Customize button.
Scroll down. Is "Use large icons" checked? If so, uncheck.
