Problem with Audio Driver
« on: January 02, 2009, 05:12:07 PM »
Okay. So recently my brother downloaded a trojan virus on my computer by mistake.  After we rebooted the computer, we noticed that we didn't have audio.  After several attempts to find the disk that contained the driver, we ended up looking online for it.  After searching for a while I discovered the driver on Microsofts website and downloaded. This didn't fix the problem however as, for some reason, my computer does not allow me to use it still.  It says the status of the driver is "Enabled but not Functioning" and when I click settings it tells me that it "Cannot Locate Realtek AC'97 Audio Drivers. The driver file may be missing. Try installing the driver again or contact your systems administrator."  I've re-downloaded the driver multiple times now, and it hasn't worked.  Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

    Hey There,

As far as the missing driver file its most likely a result of the trojan, but you probably already figured that out.  Try downloading AVG anti-virus from www.downloads.com its free and it great. I've used it for several years and this program has found viruses that Norton and Macafee didn't, then try reinstalling the drivers from your manufacturers web site.
You also may want to check out System care 3.0 also from www.downloads.com it will greatly improve your systems performance like what you see on tv lately but this is free!

                                        Good Luck,
                                                        Troy

That driver should be included in the MBoard driver CD...

      Hi
THis mirrors a problem I had with audio .
I solved it (with help) this way.
Download the driver and save it in a file.I used a file in my documents.
      Uninstall the audio device.
run find hardware the program will find the audio hardware.and install.
The device is installed but should then give you the find driver.
take the program though untill you get the choice of where to look
do not use the bottom one to find a suitable driver
use the look in other places choice.(not disc or update )
browse the programs untill you find the driver
point the program at the file the driver is in

return to the choices click ok and the driver should load
I hope I got all the steps you will see it work as you do it.
I had to use this for the vidio drive as well.

see my post 27th december. With thanks to geek!
