system driver is missing or corrupt .... volmgrx.sys
    « on: January 19, 2009, 03:06:34 PM »
My new Dell keeps doing a crash dump.  IT came with Vista and has been upgraded to Vista Ultimate 64.  It keeps crashing.  once when it restarted the  page said Failed to Load;  a critical system driver is missing or corrupt    file/windows/system32/drivers/volmgrx.sys.

    Help.

I can't figure out what is going on and I have searched all over the web!

    Is your computer operable?
Do you still have Vista DVD?

      Download, and install WhoCrashed: http://www.resplendence.com/download/whocrashedSetup.exe
      Open it, click Analyze button.
      WhoCrashed will create report.
Copy, and paste it into your next reply.

        Analysis
        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        Crash dump directory: C:\Windows\Minidump

Crash dumps are enabled on your computer.

No crash dumps have been found on your computer

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
        Conclusion
        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crash dumps are enabled and no crash dumps have been found on your computer. In case your computer does experience sudden reboots it is likely these are caused by malfunctioning hardware or power failure. Then it's suggested you contact the support department of the manufacturer of your system or test your system with a memory test utility for further investigation.

I just ran a repair with the Vista CD and it says everything is fine and the os booted successfully.  i don't want to call Dell.  they don't speak english and downloaded lots of malware, addware and other junk.

thank you again for your help
