monitor flashes
« on: February 10, 2009, 08:00:49 AM »
In the past for a while when the monitor is turned off and on again it flashed for a long while before it stayed on. Now, it stops flashing and will not turn on. Is there any help or must it be replaced? It is a Samsung SyncMaster931b, maybe 2 years old.

Best thing to try is to hook it up to another machine...if it does the same thing it's the monitor...
If not it's something on your machine...

Did you try and check the cable that goes to the motherboard?

      How old is the monitor?
Has it ever had the dust removed?

If you think it needs to be cleaned, here a some simple tips.
If this is a big old monitor you may need to get somebody to help you remove the cover. Even with the power off, high voltage may be present  a hour later. Watch the fingers.  Gently blow out the dust with compressed air. Take care to  put the thing back together the way it was.

That just might fix it.  :)
