    Computer resets on it own
    « on: March 19, 2009, 09:21:03 PM »
    Asus striker extreme
    4gb ddr2 kingston
    2tb western digitial
    intel dual core 3.0 ghz
    sony cd-cd/dvd drive
    600w power supply

my computer keep restarting on its own, at first i thought it was overheating so i opened the case and it ran for longer, then i thought the hard drive was overheating because of its location so i disconnected one of them, i receive the blue screen twice because of a driver error - now my computer has been restarting every 5-10 minutes, any idea? as for drivers the only one i have installed so far is the one for the Ethernet cable

Mate, your right. Its a overheating issue. Your CPU is overheating. See if you can replace it. the second thing is to clean out the dust inside the case.
Please do not call your computer stupid when it breaks or lags. Computers can only do what they are programmed to. and thus, often it is the user that is stupid. GET MY DRIFT?

I've encountered this issue with power supplies about to die......random reboots increase in frequency until the PC  refuses to start......depending on the age of the power supply you might want to swap it out and see if that solves your problem.........if its relatively new it's probably not the problem.

You will have an error message next to technical information starting with 0x... Give the error message. Will check that... Also scan the computer for any malware or spyware. Let me know more.

What driver did you install, and where from?

Why would you install Windows 7? It's only for testing purposes.

              Navigate to: C:\Windows\Minidump folder.
If you see any .dmp files, zip all of them, and attach zipped file to your next reply.

I will wait until the blue screen appears again to provide you with the technical information, i highly doubt my computer has any spyware or malware sense i just got it up and running but i iwll scan it just to make sure. I downloaded the drivers for the asus website that is as follows:

                Version V9.53

                Description
Nvidia Chipset Driver Package WHQL V9.53 for Windows XP
                File Size
                42.9 (MBytes)
                2006/11/21 update
                Download from
                Global China

i wanted windows 7 because my vista cd is giving me problems and i used xp for so long, i have two files in my dmp floder how do i zip a dmp file?

Okay. Restart the computer may be like 5 times and see if you get any Blue screen errors.

also whenever i reset my connection or unplug the modem the computer resets, this plus the blue screen stating driver leads me to believe it has to be the ethernet driver i downloaded
