Document Wordpad
« on: May 03, 2005, 06:52:16 AM »
My problem is in my Document Wordpad, when i try to use it all i get told is This is an Illigal Operation, with details which go like this:

WORDPAD caused an invalid page fault in
module MSWRD832.CNV at 0167:01f9f6d5.

which means diddly squat to me, but also i have order forms on a floppy which i cant open either, and then it does not come up with any of the above, but it is telling me that it is having problems with the graphic dimensions, now why this is happening i dont know,as the same floppy goes into my friends computer and with the same Wordpad and it opens it ok, and i need the work of the floppy, which i might add my friend did it up for me on her comp to start with, but also when someone sends me emails and they open in wordpad i also get the above message about the Illigals.
So you can see i really need help with this, i have been into the microsoft website looking and asking for help but to no avail, could someone please help me with this as it is getting rather frustrating now. I am working with windows 98se, and my comp is about 4 years old now

You need the OS disk.  Sometimes they store the installation files on your computer instead of giving you a disk.  If they did this on Windows 98 the installation folder is either Win98 or C:\Windows\Options\Cabs.

Once you know where the installation files are then use the Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.  Look under Windows Components, find Word Pad, uncheck it.  Click OK and let it uninstall it.  Reboot your computer and repeat the process, checking it to install it.  If Windows asks you where to find the files then the first paragraph of this post is the answer.
