« on: April 11, 2009, 05:54:12 PM »
i connected a old hdd as a slave yesterday and when i tried to boot up, it froze at the loading screen. i've disconnected the slave and it still freezes. i got a BSOD that suggested disabling caching, i did and nothing. i can only boot in normal safe mode. any help appreciated. thanx.

Your using the operating system that was on the old drive?
Assure you are booting into the right one...

Also, since you're monkeying inside, did you triple check all cables, cards, RAM are seated well?

While in Safe Mode...

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

NOTE. If you use different firewall, than Windows firewall, turn Windows firewall on, just for this test, since your regular firewall won't be running.
If you use Windows firewall, you're fine.
