windows slow at startup; fine afterward
    « on: May 16, 2009, 01:09:19 AM »
when i boot into windows, my programs open and start showing up in my taskbar (it's okay 'cause I want them to). problem is, when i first set up my pc, all my programs (about 10 of them at startup) loaded up and windows was ready to go w/in 30 seconds after logging in. now it takes about 3-4 mins.

I tried slimming down the unnecessary programs at startup through msconfig and i used ccleaner to clean up my registry a little but it still doesn't help. the only thing i can do is reinstall windows which is a major pain and takes me a good 2-3 hrs (b/c i have to re-install all of my programs and re-customize my desktop.

i am running a custom built pc w/ 8gb 800ram, 2.8 amd quad, 512mb video, vista ultimate x64. the tower has 5 fans so i don't think its a heat issue. i really have no idea what it is and i can't find any answers on google or in forums. please help. tx

also, don't know anything really about editing anything (from programs to registries) or writing programs. nothing really advanced unless absolutely necessary 'cause it'll take me a little while to understand it
