cmos settings
« on: May 16, 2005, 11:07:12 AM »
I want to change the cmos battery on an old computer and I know I'll have to make a note of my settings.
But which settings?
When I go into "setup" there are seven catagories each with a number of sub sections.
So what do I need to list before I change the battery? ???

All that you want to keep. I assume you want your p.c to stay the same? so keep em all

Tucker:

You might get writers cramp, but it will save you head aches later if you write them all down.  The BIOS setup may automatically use all the same settings, but better safe than sorry.  Plus, you'll then have them all written down so you won't have to do it next time.  :)

Tucker:

Some computer manufacturers (Compaq is one example) offer a program you may download for free to record all the BIOS setup program settings to a floppy disk.  Check the Web site of your computer or motherboard maker to see if such a utility is available.
