COMPUTER SCREEN BLACK

I BOUGHT AN OLDER COMPUTER FROM SURPLUS STORE. IT DIDNT HAVE A HARD DRIVE. HAD NEW HARD DRIVE AND WINDOWS XP INSTALLED. I DOWNLOADED AOL SOFTWARE BY FLASH DRIVE. WOULD NEVER SIGN ON. THEN SCREEN WENT BLACK. COMPUTER COMES ON BUT NO SCREEN. WHAT HAS HAPPENED?

    Check your connections, monitor power comes on?......check the monitor on another PC.

      bck,

      You have to find a working monitor and plug it into your laptop....there should be a female 15 pin connection on the back of the laptop  to connect an external monitor.....by doing this if the laptop works on another monitor you'll know your video card works and your LCD screen has a problem...this may be the backlight or inverter causing the problem....
