That is- assuming the built-in burning facility hasn't somehow been fudged.

I did I search but I couldn't find any info on re-registering it's DLL's, if that is even the way they work.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

What burning app are you using ? ?
This could very well be a file management issue.
A blank CD/DVD needs to have a name/title for the burn project itself before you create a new folder i believe...

    Broni,

I went to Dell PC Checkup and run the check. It came back with this message:

2D/3D Video Fixed Transformation and Lighting Test.
The scan failed with the following error. No3DSupport - The
test cannot find Direct3D support from the video driver.
Possible Drive Problem - the test  cannot complete due to a
possible driver problem Rerun the scan, and if it fails again
use the button to contact Dell.

    Patio,

I am running Sonic DLA Version 4.95.
I understand your statement about titling the disk before making a file. Some of my disks I have been storing on for a long time.

      Hi Folks,

This topics seems to have hit a dead end. Since  we all talked last I bought a external hard drive and have given up on storing on DVD's. I still have the problem and at some point in the future I will take the PC to Geek Squad and tell them to check the DVD hard
      ware.

It sounds a lot like the optical drive is failed(ing).

        Thanks Quantos,

I have plans to take the CPU to the Geeks Monday. It has major problems now.

It'd be better, if you avoid Geeks, and go to some local small guy.

I looked up a few in the area. I guess its a toss up? What about small guys that come to your house?

OK, then. I have picked Data Doctors. They are close. They have a website and seem to be larger than I expected. Anyone know of these guys and do they fit into the "small guy" size?
If it turns out that My DVD drive is toasted. What brand do you recommend?

As long as you don't go to GeekSquad, you should be fine.
It's hard to recommend optical drive brand. They simply fail after a while.
            Personally, I prefer LG.

Took my PC to Computer Care Center. Told him the problem. Told him I bought a external hard drive and using it now to save all my stuff. He said, Does the DVD player play DVD's. (I said yes. )Then why fix something you don't use.

                What do you think guy's?

Basically, it's up to you, if you want to replace the drive, or not.
