Using Windows XP Pro 2003 with SP3 a small but annoying problem occurred recently.  In Windows Explorer or Windows Internet Explorer (v. 7) I can double-click to open a file when I'm in full or maximum screen size, but not when I'm in the smaller or 'restore' size.  In the restore size, I can open folders or subfolders, but not individual files by double-clicking.  I've tried various ways to correct this but so far have not succeeded.  Does anyone have an answer like my wife announcing "it's right in front of your nose!"? ::)

Have you used a programme called 'Windows installer clean up' at any point?

After installing the XP cd type the following command:

      "sfc /scannow"

      or

Install Tune-xp and there use syschecker.
