Flash player lag with Windows 7
    « on: July 26, 2009, 08:43:57 PM »
i have lagging problems with anything flash related on windows 7(youtube,myspace music, any other video on the internet).i have the latest flash plugin and use firefox 3.5 .. i have also tried google crome and internet explorer 8 and i have removed all my firefox addons just in case they were causing extra lag.i used to have windows xp and also vista and it lagged rarely in vista and never in xp.it should not lag in windows 7 because it is lessram and cpu intensive.i have tried switching the theme from aero to classic and it still laggs so i dont think it is a performance issue.i dont have a real fast computer, acer aspire 3100 series (AMD Sempron Processor 3500+,1.5 Gb RAM) but i dont think it is a computer performance related thing.also while im trying to watch a  video i have cpu to spare so its not working hard to run the video or anything.

any ideas why this is happening? ???

What are you running in the background whilst you watch these videos?

Whats it like when you play a video direct from your HDD rather than the internet?

I can only think that you must have something eating up your internet connection or RAM or CPU whilst you watch videos. Have you run task manager whilst watching a video to see your stats?

I get this quite often it's generally what your computer is doing at the time. If I'm downloading 'things' then it 'pops' away badly. If I have no background activity then it kinda stops. It's 100% nothing to worry about. It's one of those irritating things you can do little about. It's simply your computer trying to play a video but forgetting it left the gas on so it keeps running off to check. That makes no sense but did when I thought of it!

my 500Mhz AMD K6-2 can play youtube videos fine... for a modern machine to be slowed down to that point is definitely unusual.

Since it doesn't occur in Windows XP or Windows Vista, it obviously isn't "one of those things" that you can't prevent. There must be something different betwee nthe windows 7 and XP and Vista installs.

Do you have all your Drivers installed? Namely Video/Sound?

RocketDock is a huge resource hog...

So are any eye candy apps from stardock for that matter...
