    Operating systems help
    « on: July 27, 2009, 03:22:46 AM »
    I bought my new computer several weeks ago which was Windows Vista Home Premium by default, but I downgraded to XP SP2 and installed the new operating system's contents into my H drive. I havent deleted the Vista files from the C drive where it was installed by default. Is it actually possible when you turn on your computer to either choose if you want to use XP or Vista?

      Yes there is.

      On the XP machine basically go....
      Do the following;
      step 1

      1. start
      2. find run
      3. type    msconfig
      4. go to the 'boot' tab
      5. click on the button that says 'Windows XP'
      6. and press set default

      step 2
      1. under the same tab of 'boot' find a little box with 30secs in it
      2. change this number to 3
      3. the little box is called 'timeout'
      4. click apply and then ok,
      5. restart your machine and watch it work magic my friend

        xp is NOT on the c drive...so using easyBCD(or BCD edit or other choices that modify Vista bootmgr) is the way to get this done...IMO
