    remove personal anti virus program?
    « on: July 30, 2009, 07:18:57 AM »
I don't know if I did it or someone else using my computer, but I have a program now called "Personal Anti Virus".  I certainly did not want it on my computer.  It supposedly has found a multitude of viruses on my computer, yet running my AVG Antivirus Program, I have found nothing.
I cannot remove this program from my computer.  It does not appear when I open the Add or Remove Programs file.  I have it on my bottom program bar and it continually pops up telling me of all the viruses on my computer.
The program of course wants me to upgrade to remove all these threats ... which means pay money.

If this has happened recently you might do a system restore to a date earlier than when this thing showed up.  Our malware experts should be along to help you out.

In the meantime you should download HijackThis from here...

      http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

      Post the log.

      Good luck

Thanks for your advice.  I just downloaded Hijack This .. and it did create a log file.  I do not know what to "fix" and what not to.  This is the logfile saved.   Thanks again.  NOW what do I do?

Thank you Al.   I just performed "system restore" back to July 24, 2009 and it seemed to work successfully.  I don't clearly understand what this does ... what about the unwanted program?  Does that mean that it appeared after the 24th?  Does that mean my problem has been solved?  Just a newbie here.  BJ

System Restore will NOT remove any infection.
