Can I move available space from drive c to drive d
« on: June 03, 2005, 10:30:16 PM »
I recently downloaded Windows XP onto drive d.  However, the drive d does not have alot of space.  I keep getting low disk space messages.

Is there a way that I can take space away from Drive C and move it to Drive D?

Not without repartitioning the Hard Disk Drive. This would cause all your files to become unreadable and you would most likely end up having to reformat the partitions you created.

How can I do this?  I have never had to repartition a hard drive?

Is you C drive & D drive on one HD that has 2 partitions or are they 2 physical drives?

You can create partitions on a Hard Disk Drive by either using the Windows XP CD as a Bootable disk or by using a Boot diskette.

However, repartitioning a Hard Disk Drive that has allready been partitioned and has files installed will become unreadable until it is formatted. Which means you will loose all your data.

Assuming that C: and D: are both on the same hard drive, use the program "Partition Magic."  This will let you resize the partitions without losing data.
