I have downloaded and installed malware bytes anti malware (MBAM), but I cant get it to run, when I do I get a message 'windows cannot acess the specified device, path or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item'.

      You'll have to go here....

      http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

If you've lost your connection, download the programs to a USB stick on a good PC and transfer them to your PC.
If you have difficulty, you may have to run them in safe mode, tap F8 at start, .
If you have difficulty, you may have to rename the programs when you save them.
If you get stuck on a step, proceed to the next .

Post the logs for step 3,4 and 6.

Some adwares and spywaresremove, all you do is search f or the names that appear io  are easy tn their title bars and then just delete the entries.  Not with this one though.  One option of course is to transfer everything that is virus fre to an external drive, reload the os and then transfer the stuff back

i may end up doing that cause Im pretty frustrated at how manyy hours I spent over trying to take this thing out.  And what makes it worse is that the registry entries it makes are composed of random letters so what one person may find is not what another person will f ind

        Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

This is a great board though.

That's what I am getting ready to do also...just start from scratch. I even had Avast! running...and do checks all the time with malware bytes...whatever this thing I have is...it has become "smart" and won't let me do anything to get rid of it....including redirecting me from most potential may help me figure out what to do to get rid of it. Except this one for some reason. Good luck to you ... let us know how it turns out, ok?

            hello southern,

backing up the stuff to an external drive, reloading the os and reloading the stuff back works always, the only downside is that you have to reload most of the drivers and application files again.  Thats why I always try to see if there is a way to fix the problem first and use this other tactic as a last resort.  It worked for me and it will for you too.
