    OSD Main Menu
    « on: September 09, 2009, 07:37:18 PM »
It keeps popping up.  I tried to exit it, but it still comes back.  How do I get rid of it?

Please provide some "context" for your post.  Perhaps:
          1.  What does "OSD" mean, if you know (because it means nothing to me)?
          2.  When did it start?  Just after you downloaded or installed something?
          3.  Have you run an antivirus or anti-malware scan recently?
          4.  Does it appear when you boot to Safe Mode?
          5.  Do you want "OSD" rubbed out or just roughed up a bit?

OSD = On Screen Display ???

      Not enough detail given.  http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,86049.0.html

Consult the user manual or Google for the screen manufacturer's site.

Yes, I'm referring to the On Screen Display Menu.  It just popped out of nowhere and now it won't go away.  It pops up for a few a minutes or so and then disappears.  It then reappears after a few seconds.  It was very sudden.  My computer was working just fine yesterday.  I have no idea to what may have caused this.

AFAIK OSD's are part of the monitor not of the operating system and setup things like brightness, contrast, horizontal and vertical positioning etc.  They are generally controlled via pushbuttons on the monitor control panel.

What is happening with yours cannot be determined until you provide some details such as monitor make/model.  Please follow the guidelines in the link I posted, without providing information you will not get a reasoned diagnosis of the problem.

I'm with "Dusty".  Provide more information (especially make and model number of display or make and model number of notebook).

The display is a CRT, LCD, or something else?

Apparently your display has something to say...  It's trying to communicate with you...  So what does it say!
