    "chkdsk /r" from Recovery Console vs. from Command Prompt

    Q: Is there any benefit to running "chkdsk /r" from the disk Recovery Console vs. just from the command prompt?  As a maintenance procedure, how often should this be done?

    well, it actually works in the recovery console, that's a big plus.
    I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

    Correct. When you run checkdisk from the gui it does not to the entire hd scan, only the equivalent of chkdsk /f
