Master Volume Doesn't work
« on: October 02, 2009, 12:56:59 AM »
Hey, I just upgraded my windows 98se desktop (Acer Veriton 3300) to windows XP Pro while my laptop is getting fixed, but a very weird problem just came up - The master volume slider in the volume dialog control doesn't do anything - even the mute all button! I have to control volume levels from the "Wave" slider. Very annoying, as the volume hotkeys on my keyboard control the master volume slider only!!
I've been googling and http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080724131719AA0JLNM told me to go to services.msc and set Windows Audio to automatic, but it was already on automatic. Any ideas?

this site, http://forum.soft32.com/windows/Master-volume-control-XP-Home-edition-working-correctly-ftopict298145.html is pretty much what i'm looking at. They even have the same sound card as me - Intel integrated audio.

Thoughts?

I tried that. When I updated them the new drivers wouldn't initialize the sound card (i got error 10 - sound card cannot initialize) so I had to do a driver rollback.

    Thanks for the feedback though.
