    Deleting old Windows Installations?
    « on: October 18, 2009, 03:56:09 PM »
    Hey there,

It's me, Miles. Haven't been here for a while. But now I'm back with a problem! The problem is I have 3 windows installations on my PC. (Windows 7, Windows XP Home, and Windows XP Pro.) My primary OS is the XP professional. I want to delete the other two without having to do a clean install. Thing is, I can't access them! So their is no way to actually go into them and uninstall them. So their is my problem.

    How do I uninstall them?

Can't you just boot in XP pro and format the other 2 partitions?

They are all on a single partition so I can't just delete the partition. Any more information needed?

Deleting the XP Home installation is easy. Boot to the XP Pro installation and delete the other Windows folder from Windows Explorer. It's that easy. 7 may not be so easy primarily because of the boot loader. I haven't installed 7 yet so I'm not sure what needs to be done to eliminate the newer boot loader and return to the boot.in file (which may also need to be edited to remove the reference to XP Home).

I don't think we're getting all the info here...
As far as i know Win7 won't install to a partition that already has a Windows install on it....

He may mean all 3 are on the same "physical" drive...

Hmm... well I had first had Win7 then installed XP later. They are on the same partition.

You installed XP AFTER Windows 7? And on the same partition?
