How do i install adobe flash player on windows 7 64?
« on: October 19, 2009, 01:05:19 PM »
I want to install adobe flash player on windows 7 64bit OS, but it keeps saying that I will need a 32bit browser to do this. Can someone tell me where I get a 32bit browser from? Thanks!!

Currently there are no 64bit browsers...(Disclaimer:they say they are but aren't )  but if you are able to get online and do things then you have a 32 bit browser already installed...

Patio: what about  Minefield?

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minefield/

Also Internet Explore x64 as well as Minefield both load as 64-bit applications...

I ran IE64 on my Vista 64bit build for about 3 months...i noticed not much difference so i did some digging in Explorer.
Although there was an IE folder in the 64bit directory i could not launch it from there using XTree running in a shell...
The files were duplicated in the 32bit directory...which was hidden by default and the .exe would launch from there ...

I'm not saying i'm savvy enough to determine if it is truly 64bit or not but i found this fishy.

I'll give MineField a run around the block in the meantime.

But i'm just not convinced IE64 is what they say it is.

the 64-bit version of Internet explorer is in C:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

the 32-bit version is in C:\program files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

they both run fine here :P and I was curious so I wrote a program to check, that looks at the PE header flags. the one in Program Files is 64-bit; the one in the (x86) folder is 32-bit. That being said a 64-bit application will only run faster then it's 32-bit counterpart if it takes advantage of 64-bit features. Don't know if IE64 does that; not many programs do, actually.

Minefield won't work with most of my Firefox plugins... like adblockplus... which is the reason I don't use it as my main browser.

They are 64-bit... but there is no reason to use them at all over the 32-bit versions. So much so that the 32-bit version launches by default on Vista x64.

How do you have Win7?

What do you mean "How do you have Win7?" I have the beta like millions of other people do and want to test it.

I cannot ignore this message because one of my programs needs adobe flash player, if I don't install it then the program doesn't use it and I have no way of viewing what I need done.
