I have got a HP computer running on windows XP and when i turn it on it gives me the menu of f1 set up etc, but after that screen, theres nothing eny help???

The menu of f2 set up etc? You mean you just have the option to enter setup or go to the boot menu?

What happened between the last time the system booted properly and the first time it did not (new hw, sw, virus, error, etc)?

Yea it goes past that first menu and then a blank screen the computer sounds as if its loading but nothing afta that. Was downloading music and turned it off came back to it and thats when the problem started.

You turned it off while you were downloading something? How did you turn it off? And just out of curiosity, why would you turn it off while it was in the middle of downloading?

And do you have an XP CD?

So I Think you get your system damaged. The most easy way is to reinstall Windows.
