Windows Update - MS Office patches
    « on: October 31, 2009, 07:57:44 PM »
I only have MS Office 2003, but there are security patches for MS Office 2007, do I need to download those updates? (I don't want to if it doesn't affect me cause I 'm running out of space on my Harddrives.

    Thanks

    Broni

Based on some compatibility issues I've had with different versions of Office I don't totally agree with Broni.

    I would say *censored* NO!

Are these updates automatically appearing in Windows Updates?  If so, that's strange since you don't have Office 2007.

Unless he may have at one time installed the Office2007 trial....
But correct...they shouldn't be showing up...

No need to do so unless you have Microsoft office 2007, However, in the later date, you may need to download them. Depends what format the OFFICE2003 is.

Are you just posting because you feel like saying something? Because most of your posts just don't make any sense at all.

Can you explain this?  Why would Office 2007 updates ever apply to Office 2003?

Actually helper in this instance it doesn't make sense...he either has Office03 or Office 2007.
The file formats are different but if he does not have 2007 he should not be recieveing update notices...
    That's the whole issue.

Helper do some homework before posting...
I think that's all Allan is stating...

Because Office 2003 could have enterprise trials for office 2007, therefore, You would need to download the Updates..

I've been an Office 2003 user for years now and I've never seen any signs of "enterprise trials for office 2007" appearing on my computer.  Any trial versions for office 2007 would be installed separately from Office 2003.  We have no indications anywhere in this thread that any version of Office 2007 was ever installed.  Therefore, your comment makes no sense.
