Sound quit working suddenly?

I have a dell e1505 and all of a sudden, the sound stopped working. I bought new speakers, still didnt work, reinstalled drivers, and finally a fresh install, and still NO SOUND! What could be the problem?

Don't know. Look in Device Manager - are there any yellow exclamation marks?

No it says device is working properly

Let's get the obvious out of the way. Go to START - RUN and type: sndvol.exe (press enter). Are the volume settings okay with nothing muted?

Everything is on maximum volume, nothing is muted. Thanks.

Okay. Are you 100% certain the speakers are connected to the correct port in the sound card (usually the green one)? Please try them all. And forgive a silly question, but if the speakers are powered are they plugged in to a working AC line?

yes the internal speakers are connected correctly, I have checked it 3 times already, and the external speakers are plugged in to the laptop and into ac outlet. Still no sound.

Does the laptop output sound from its internal speaker or is there no sound from any source?

No there is no sound from anything. Even the headphones, which I use a lot, stopped getting sound, but works when I plug into my friends laptop.

Well, then it sounds like there's a problem with the sound card. You might want to contact Dell

I contacted them, did everything they asked me to, and they said it was the speakers. Bought new ones, still no sound. They are no help.
