My Speakers work but headphones don't work.
« on: November 29, 2009, 11:34:41 AM »
I have creative Soundblaster 5.1 speakers and they work fine.  I can't get the headphones to work out of the CD jack or the sound card jack.  Computer is in same room as tv and I want to listen to downloaded music or videos without disturbing.  I have been to control panel and followed thru with sounds and devices advanced settings.  Can anyone help?  Thanks

Since you are familiar with the sounds settings in control panel I'm guessing that you have changed the settings under speakers and advanced to 5.1.

Try changing the settings to plain stereo and see if the headphones work then.

Typically, the headphone jacks are just a mechanical connector with no software control.
