Computer seems to turn on but black screen
    « on: December 21, 2009, 06:24:17 PM »
So I got a hp pavilion tx510us entertainment notebook (runs Vista) and it seems to turn on (like all the lights are on and it makes noises) but the screen is black/blank or whatever. And its not just a blank screen because then I would have been able to put my pass in and then hear the turn on music and stuff. The thing is this happened before when it was still under warranty so I sent it in for free and they sent it back and it turned on and it still had on all my stuff so it must have been an easy enough solution, but when I chatted with them again I guess they don't keep track of what they did to it and they want me to send it in again and that would cost a large sum of money because its no longer under warranty. I did a hard reset a few times and took out the memory module and put it back in agian but still nothing. So, anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion, tried it didn't worked used a flashlight and everything. Another thing is that usally when I shut the lap top it goes into sleep mode but now it just says turned on (only black screen).

It could be the inverter or the actual screen itself.

Do you get a display on an exernal monitor?

I'm not really sure how I would try it on an external monitor, this is a laptop so I can't just change monitors I think...? Do I need a special plug for it or something?

the inverter drives the lamps, so if this was the problem u shud b able to c a faint image on screen. ur laptop shud have the port for external monitor. cheers

i have to say this friend, 1st i take no offence on having my shorthand being pointed out as mayb not being reader friendly, a point, i must admit, that i  have overlooked for a long time. why, because ive been replying in such manner for a long time. i belong to many sites that i enjoy taking an active part in, and after many thousands of posts, this is the 1st time anybody has complained about my typing style. it has nothing to do with the queens language but has everything to do with teaching an old dog new tricks. sorry, but ive been doing it for so long  im sure that i cant change it(nor do i want to)so rather than step on any more toes i will refrain from posting. it really is a shame as im sure i would have had much enjoyment at ur site. looks good so far ill sat that. anyway i will b lurking in the background, but i promise i will post no more, hehe. cheers and merry xmas to all members.
