Title: Laptops
Post by: scottre on March 01, 2008, 09:25:46 AM
My mother who is a compute novice and usually comes to me for help has just purchased a new laptop - has never had one before - and asked me the question I get different answers to all the time.  When she is finished for the day, should she shut down and close it up or is it better to leave it on til the next day and should she close it up  or leave it open?  And if it's going to be a few days until she gets back on what's the best advice for leaving it inactive?

Thank you

Close it up and shutdown...
2 reasons: saves the screen from dust/debris
Eliminates a laptops worst enemy...Heat.

Just using the normal Windows shutdown process will be fine...

Agreed.

Laptops are engineered (at least in theory) to the components can stand up to the start up / shut down cycling.
