Title: laptop cd drive
Post by: scottl2001 on December 20, 2011, 08:59:32 AM

having trouble copying files to a CD from my laptop.  Ony able to copy a few files when I should be able to copy much more, and sometimes the CD comes out a little scratched.  Looks like I need a new CD drive.  Anybody know the approximate cost?

Laptop optical drives range between 60 to 100+ Bucks.

BUT if indeed that is the basis of the problem i suggest buying an external. It will be much less expensive and portable between computers. Plus with a bit of research you can find one that is very small.truenorth
P.S. Make it a dvd  rw and you will be even further ahead.

What kind of CD? is it blank? Multi-session? are you using packet writing software or are you trying to burn it using a image burner?

And you get what error when you try to copy "much more"? How much ARE you able to copy?

After burning? Is it only discs you burn? are you sure they weren't scratched already? do discs you read come out "scratched"?
